Grant-Funded Rescue Tool Supports Critical Extrication
Stony Plain, Alberta
In July 2026, the Stony Plain Fire Department responded to a serious two-vehicle collision involving multiple patients who required immediate assistance.
Working alongside Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, firefighters helped triage and treat the patients while carrying out complex extrication operations.
During the response, firefighters used rescue equipment acquired through a grant from the Foundation to free a mother and two children from one of the vehicles. Having the equipment immediately available helped crews complete a controlled and timely extrication while medical care continued.
The family later visited the fire station to thank the firefighters who assisted them. For the responding crews, the visit was a meaningful reminder of the people and families at the heart of every emergency response.
In sharing this account, Stony Plain Fire Department expressed its appreciation for the Foundation’s support:
“Please accept our heartfelt appreciation for supporting the Stony Plain Fire Department and the residents and visitors we protect.”
